JCM's dog school is the only dog training school that GUARANTEES RESULTS. The training program is well thought out, and professionally taught by a knowledgeable, experienced 30 year veteran trainer that still competes on the highest level in Obedience Competition. She also trains dogs for the hearing impaired, Assistance dogs, and Therapy dogs. Jean of JCM's uses no gimmicks, no bribery, and no abuse. She really knows dog behavior and relates on their level. Watching Jean work with dogs is like watching a ballet. Pure, fluid, and remarkable. You can see the communication. She tells us what the dog is going to do before he does it, like a mind reader. AMAZING, and AMAZING TO WATCH! She can get any dog to come without a leash, or food in less than 5 minutes using dog psychology. All the dogs in basic class are working off leash in the 5th week of the 8 week course. Nobody else does that. All these other trainers that seem to spring up out of the woodwork with their silly little clickers and treats, pale in comparison to one of the truly great dog trainers of all time. My dog is now a licensed Therapy Dog thanks to Jean. Highly recommend. 5 Stars.
Excellent Boarding Facility

I happened upon the ugly review for JCM's Pet Boarding while wanting to post my own review. I recently boarded my boxer there. When I picked up my dog he was calm and didn't even want to leave. My dog's behavior told me how he was treated. When I've picked him up from other boarding places, he would go crazy. After researching the "ugly" writer, I discovered that the person is a boarding kennel competitor in the area. I know JCM's was on the Southshore for 30 years prior to Katrina. She evacuated with, and saved, all of the boarding dogs for the hurricane. The newly acquired property in Covington does need landscaping, but it is clean and well managed. This is just a case of a business that feels threatened by the "new kid on the NorthShore block" with a better run business. JCM's truly cares about the pets that board with them. I will continue to use them. If you don't believe me, just call the Vets. They all recommend JCM's.
Jean is an amazing trainer - I was referred to her by several people whose dogs now do visits to Children's Hospital and to various elder care facilities. Their beautifully trained dogs - and the handlers - learned the best FROM the best...Jean of JCM.
She also takes tremendous care of dogs she boards. Her new property is under construction, so DON'T let that alarm you. Our dog was a rescue, new to the family...and he had just nearly eaten a friend's Boston Terrier! We were FLIPPED OUT over what to do.
We informed her of all this before we left town, so she could keep "Cujo" away from other animals. She called long distance w/a doggie report, even took gobs of photos of my dog happily playing with other dogs! Though we didn't ask for it, she did a free personality assessment - fully knowing the dog was signed up with another trainer.
We promptly switched trainers, and after she taught we HUMANS what to do, Cujo is now a beautifully mannered, happy, non-critter-eating sweetie. Jean - you are amazing!

I went to JCM's Dog Training School. Jean is the best trainer out there. I had gone to PetSmart and I can tell you they don't have a clue. She said that she guarantees results. I was skeptical, but everything on her website is true. She is a true professional and she has a genuine gift. She is the Dog Whisperer. I can take my dog anywhere now without a leash. In fact, I went back to PetSmart after Jean trained my dog and they offered me a job as one of their certified trainers. I told them that they didn't know the first thing about training and that they were just using their big bucks and their fancy store front to bait people in. If you want your dog trained by a real dog trainer, go to JCM's.

Jean at JCM's Dog Training School teaches Obedience, but she also has a pet boarding facility. She really cares about the pets she boards. She treats them with kindness and provides unsurpassed care. She not only loves animals, but she also knows how to properly care for them. She lives on the property and lets the dogs out every few hours. They always have fresh, clean food, water, and bedding. She took 50 boarding dogs with her when she evacuated from the hurricane. That's more than most places did. She saved all those animals. I commend her for that. After the hurricane she moved from St. Bernard Parish to Covington Louisiana. I now have to drive over an hour to board my dog with her, but it's worth it. I would not go anywhere else. She is AWESOME. I recommend her to everyone.

I read a review from a person calling herself Jessica. She didn't much care for the training she got from JCM's. Well this is all I have to say on the matter.... I did an in home Consultation with Jean, and then attended the 8 week basic course. Jean is an excellent trainer and really knows her stuff. However, there are those out there that think dogs are just little, furry people. They think the trainer's job is to magically talk to the dog and explain to him the errors of his ways. They and don't understand the concept of professional dog training. What the ill informed owner perceives as the dog showing fear, is in actuality the dog understanding and respecting the wishes of the dominant "pack leader." There are trainers that use play time, food, gimmicks, and humanize the dog to satisfy the emotional needs of people like Jessica. The dog won't be trained in the end, and will probably pick up additional bad habits along the way. Jessica unfortunately picked a professional trainer to help her with her needs instead of one of the many "fluff" trainers.
